D.R. Horton held on to its title as the top builder in the U.S.

after completing 93,311 closings in 2024.

That’s about 3 percent more than the Arlington, Texas-based firm did in 2023, according to data from Builder magazine, which ranks the top home builders across the country by home closings.

D.R. Horton, which was the No. 1 home developer in the previous ranking, also raked in the most revenue last year — $33.8 million.

The silver medal goes to Lennar Corp., with 80,210 closings, about 9.7 percent more than the year before. The Miami-based company, which brought in $33.79 million in revenue, was also second last year.

Among the top 10 builders — which are all public firms — the company whose closings grew the most from 2023 to 2024 was SH Residential Holdings. The Manhattan Beach, California-based firm’s closings grew nearly 235 percent, bringing the company to sixth in the country for closings from 20th. It was the only new entrant to the top 10 builders ranking in 2025.

As a result, SH Residential, which focuses on a range of housing types from second homes to entry-level residences, saw the biggest growth in revenue. The company brought in more than 250 percent more revenue in 2024 than the year before, for $8.1 million.

Century Communities, a Colorado-based builder focused on entry-level and luxury homes, saw the second-highest growth in its number of closings. The firm, which bumped up to ninth place in 2025, saw its closings increase by just over 15 percent to about 11,000. That also puts the company in second place for change in revenue; the firm made $4.4 million in revenue in 2024, up about 22 percent from the year before.
